Denise Wright • St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands

thumb: denisewrightartworkli Until 2007 Denise Wright’s body of work was landscapes and seascapes. This has evolved to painting abstracts. Wright says she is attracted to painting the feeling of the tropics, rather than a literal translation, and uses art to cultivate her spiritual awareness.“ I know that beauty is the natural consequence of the opening of the soul, which allows creativity to come forth,” observes Wright. She believes in a holistic approach towards her role as an artist, and says, “ I refuse to rely only upon my visual relationship with the world.” Wright is one the featured artists at Bajo El Sol Gallery in Mongoose Junction in St. John.
