The 32-isle nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines launched a brand identity program to promote the destination, which is home to the Soufriere volcano, the island of Mustique and numerous capital projects.
A new SVG logo has been designed, using the national colors of yellow, green and blue
The shape of a seagull’s wing forms the “V” in St. Vincent, with a bird in flight, “symbolizing SVG as a multidimensional experience for visitors to explore all that the destination has to offer,” according to Glen Beache, CEO of the St. Vincent and Grenadines Tourism Authority.
Beache said that several major projects, now in the works, will improve the region's ability to attract and host many more visitors. The destination welcomed approximately 65,000 visitors in 2010.
Major initiatives include the new Argyle Airport, expected to open by early 2013, capable of handling direct jet service from the U.S., Canada and Europe.
Buccament Bay Resort, the first Caribbean property of Harlequin Hotels & Resorts, opened phase one April 3. When completed, the 98-acre resort will feature guestrooms, suites and villas; 12 restaurants, including a Trader Vic’s; tennis, cricket and soccer instruction; the Island Sanctuary Spa; a kids’ club; and a megayacht marina with 24 slips.
The Canouan Resort at Carenage Bay, the former Raffles Resort Canouan Island, is getting a $100 million upgrade. Petit St. Vincent Resort, on a private island in the Grenadines, will undergo a $60 million redo when it closes May 1 for six months.
