The Botanical Gardens in Georgetown Guyana has one of the most extensive collections of tropical flora in the Caribbean. The surrounding environment with ponds, canals, kissing bridges and a bandstand, complete this natural national treasure.
The Promenade garden, occupying one city block is on the site once used as a spot for hanging slaves during with the 1823 East Coast rebellion.
The garden includes a Mahatma Gandhi Monument, and the city’s oldest bandstand bandstand erected in 1897.
