The Fish Trap, nestled in a tropical family friendly setting, has become a landmark for the freshest seafood in the entire region. Over the years chef owner Aaron Willis has garnered accolades from local regional and national press including Bon Appetite and Gourmet. The Fish Trap chowder, conch fritters and tuna with soy glaze and wasabi mayonnaise are legendary, along with a coconut cake, served with a spice rum caramel sauce. But it’s the daily features that continue to keep it all creative for Willis and his following.

This landmark restaurant was originally run by Miss Lucy, a well known St.Johnian. Now her relatives keep her tradition of great cooking alive at the restaurant’s sublime waterfront location in Friis Bay, just beyond Coral Bay. The menu offers a wonderful mix of continental and West Indian fare, with the best West Indian crab kallaloo and vegetarian, chicken, and conch rotis anywhere. Jazz Sunday brunches and full moon parties are local favorites.

Grand Cru features boutique wines from around the world, designer cocktails and a Mediterranean inspired menu befitting its location at Yacht Haven grande, a megayacht marina. Relax dockside either in air conditioning at the contempory wine bar or on the sun drenched deck. You can choose among an adventurous array of appetizers, small and big plates, paired with wines by the glass or bottle. You'll find steak and seafood, artisanal cheeses, along with signature "ceviche spoons” and "crostini creations." We're partial to the New Zealand lamb lolipops with tzatziki and a fresh tomato chutney. Open for lunch and dinner.

Run by savvy chef Sally Daresh and her affable husband Craig, it offers some of the best food on the island. A globally inspired menu changes daily, but there are a few sensational staples like roasted eggplant cheesecake. You can construct a meal with tapas, salads and appetizers or order a full-blown entrée, with wonderful wine by the glass or bottle. Everything is extraordinary. (How about a grilled duck breast drizzled with a sauce of pomegranate and soy, served with local pumpkin gnocchi?) Prices range from about $17 to $34 for entrees, with tapas for just $6 or a trio of tapas for $14.
